The Unity Assets Bundle Extractor (UABE) is an editor for Unity 3.4+/4/5/2017/2018 .assets and AssetBundle files. Documentation and download can be found here.

The UABE can be used to extract asset files from an owned unity game. There are other plugins, however this page currently only covers images. If you figure out how to extract other usable files, please add the info to this page.

Most of the information found here has been compiled from Extract Images and Textures from Unity Games | Modding Monday.

These extracted files should only be used for promoting the game (including wiki use), or modding. Using the files to create "original" games violates copyright laws. Always be sure to include license information when using these extracted files.

Here are the steps:

  • In Steam:
    • Right-click on the game in the Library & select Properties..., LOCAL FILES, BROWSE LOCAL FILES..., "Data" directory
    • Copy the path
  • Open the bundle extractor located at directoryname/AssetsBundleExtractor/64bit
    • Click File, Open
    • Paste the path
    • Choose an ASSETS File:
      • "resources", "sharedassets0", "sharedassets1", "sharedassets2", etc.
    • Sort by type
    • Select files of type "Texture2D" (you can use click and shift-click to select a range)
    • Click Plugins, Export to .png, create a folder in the game directory (e.g. "Assets"), Select Folder
